Heritage Arts and the Community

The Trust obtained a Heritage Lottery Fund grant for a project to produce a history of the first fifty years of the Trust on DVD together with a touring exhibition. The project was done in partnership with Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS) and with the support of Hertfordshire County Council, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and Stevenage Borough Council.

The project created a catalogued archive at with the catalogue available on line at A2A together with a DVD for secondary schools for use in GCSE and A level courses and a touring exhibition which was mounted in a number of venues around the County

Fascinating material was brought to light including some large black and white photographs of early artists taken by professional photographer Lynton Money which were ‘ lost’ until rediscovered and donated to the Trust by the late Peter Collingwood, A number of films/videos from the 1970s were also rediscovered and digitised to be available on DVD. Video interviews were carried out with a number of artists who have spent time at Digswell including the late Peter Collingwood and others across the fifty years of the Trust’s existence.

The resulting DVD can will be avaliable to view here soon.

A summary of the project is available as a downloadable document, please click here.
