The Forge
Our new studios are at the Forge in Digswell - we have returned to our roots! This wonderful new building (provided by English Partnerships) has three individual studios plus shared spaces for five other artists all of which are lit by rooflights and an external studio for noisy/dusty activities which also has an outside work area. In addition we have a dedicated printmaking area with our large etching press and other print making equipment.

The studios are fully accessible to people with disabilities including a lift to the first floor.

The studios are about seven minutes walk from a mainline railway station (Kings Cross 35 minutes) and a pub and about the same distance from a local shopping centre with supermarket, post office (and another pub) etc.

Fairlands Valley Farmhouse
A Grade II mainly Victorian but originating in C17 Farmhouse with a number of older features set in a large garden within the main town park. It was in active use as a farmhouse until the early 1970's.
The farmhouse is partly timber framed and has a portion of flint wall. In the kitchen (now used as a meeting room) there is a large ingle nook fireplace with a cast iron fireback dated 1588 (probably a souvenir recording the defeat of the Spanish Armada!).

There are a total of 13 studios at the Farmhouse. Four are in an outbuilding, which has at present a blacksmith's workshop fitted with a forge, a community artists workshop, a ceramic studio fitted with a large Laser gas kiln and a large top-loading kiln, a small test kiln and a slab roller. In addition there is a small room attached to the main house fitted with an electric kiln which can be used for either ceramics or glass and a sink with water supply. There is a small office which Fellows can use equipped with two computers with broadband access, scanner and printer.

In the main house there is a well-equipped glass studio currently shared between two glass makers. There are eight other studios.

There is some car parking on site and a nearby public car park in the park. The Farmhouse is a five-minute drive from Stevenage town centre and closer to other local shopping centres. Stevenage is 35 minutes from Kings Cross by train
